Power to Fix Problems
In the new County Contract, SEIU 221 won a powerful tool no other union has: A Collaborative Solutions Committee where we meet directly with the County to fix problems.
Solutions Don’t Have to Wait Until the Next Contract
The new Collaborative Solutions Committee gives SEIU County workers more power. Even after our union contract is settled the Solutions Committee keeps working. For example, if SEIU 221 members in a department believe they deserve more premium pay, they can go to the committee to work out a solution before the next contract.
The committee doesn’t address every issue. Base-wage raises that are negotiated in our contract do remain in place until the next contract cycle. But it’s a new way to address problems that seemed insoluble before.
How CM & CR Workers Can Fix Problems Now
Through the Collaborative Solutions Committee, SEIU 221 health care workers in County jails just won a strong increase in their premium pay. Now we’re fighting to raise and expand the Locked Facilities Premium for all County workers—including CM and CR workers—in our detention facilities. Be sure to sign the petition if you haven’t already.
We’ve also launched petitions to quickly win concrete improvements for other CM and CR workers. Click these links to sign on:
